Who we are
A fellowship of ordinary people, from many places, held together by one faith and a real affection for one another.
Our story
Assemblies of God Kottiyam began as a handful of families meeting in a living room, praying together and looking after one another far from where most of them had grown up. That is still the heart of it — only the room has changed.
Today we are a settled congregation in Kottiyam, spanning several generations and a good many nationalities. Some have been here since the beginning; others joined last month. Both are equally at home.
What we believe
The things we hold in common
We are not interested in making faith complicated. These are the convictions we gather around.
The Bible
We believe Scripture is God's word to us — trustworthy, and meant to be read and lived rather than admired from a distance.
Jesus Christ
We believe in Jesus: crucified, risen, and alive today. Our hope rests on what he has done, not on what we manage to achieve.
Prayer
We pray together, in plain words, about real things — and we expect God to hear.
One another
We believe a church is a family, not an audience. Belonging here means being known, and being missed when you are absent.
We are part of the Assemblies of God, a Pentecostal fellowship of churches.
Life together
Most of what makes a fellowship is not on any schedule: meals shared, lifts given, a phone call when someone is unwell, a room full of people at a wedding or standing quietly at a funeral.
